This morning we are taking a ship’s tour to Murano and Burano. We decided this was the best way to visit these islands as we are sailing at 1PM and we are guaranteed the ship won’t sail without us!
Unfortunately, today turned out to be pretty much of a bust!!!! The day was rainy and cold. We still took the tour but it really wasn’t very enjoyable.
First stop was Murano and a tour of a glass factory. At least it was indoors and was interesting.
After the glass demonstration, we were funneled in to the showroom….and I mean that…for me it was only a show room. The “cheapest” priced thing I liked was 1264 Euros!!!!
Then it was back on the boat for the island of Burano. This is really a neat island with very colorful houses. Unfortunately, it was so rainy and foggy, we could not see anything. After a fairly long walk in the rain, we toured a lace factory. I could have done without this but Delia really enjoyed it. Of course, she had to have a conversation with the lace maker…..
Sailaway was delayed because of wind but at least the rain had stopped by the time we left Venice. It would have been much nicer if the sun was out and a little warmer but I guess we can’t have everything!
