This is another tender port. Today we are off on a full day tour arranged by John Russell (AKA jvrnz). The tour was arranged thru www.visitsplitcroatia.com and includes visits to Split, Salona and Trogir.
Salona was a 3rd century Roman city. The excavated ruins include an amphitheatre, early Christian churches, burial grounds and baths.
Trogir is a small city under UNESCO protection and we visited the Cathedral, loggia and walked the narrow streets of this charming medieval city. Of course, we needed to stop to sample the local brew!!!
Our final stop of the day was a walking tour of old Split. The heart of old Split is built within the walls of the Diocletian’s Palace. The Diocletian abdicated in 305AD and lived out his life in this palace which is now also a UNECSO Heritage site. The grounds also include St. Dominius’ Cathedral.
